Nicholas Kokinakis Memorial – A Meaningful Day of Remembrance in Astoria

On Saturday November 15, the GOBL family gathered for the Second Annual Nicholas Kokinakis Memorial, a heartfelt tribute to a man whose life and legacy continues to inspire our community. The service was beautifully officiated by His Grace Bishop Athenagoras, whose presence and prayers brought comfort to everyone in attendance.

We also honored Nick’s remarkable vision and leadership—his dedication to creating opportunities for children not only through a basketball league for ages 7–12, but also through the JOY soccer league. His passion for giving kids a place to grow, play, and belong lives on through these programs.

Players, coaches, families, and friends came together in a spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and remembrance. We thank everyone who joined us today and helped make the memorial truly meaningful.
