Greek Orthodox Basketball League Announces Record-Breaking 2025–2026 Season Schedule

876 Games, 161 Teams, and 1,942 Players Across 14 Communities as GOBL Tips Off Another Exciting Year of Faith, Sportsmanship, and Fellowship

NEW YORK, NY — The Greek Orthodox Basketball League (GOBL) proudly announces the release of the 2025–2026 season schedule, featuring a record-breaking 876 games to be played across 14 Greek Orthodox communities throughout the Direct Archdiocesan District. This milestone marks the largest schedule in league history, underscoring the continued growth, enthusiasm, and dedication of the GOBL community.

This season, the GOBL will bring together 161 teams and 1,942 youth athletes, ages 7–17, representing their parish communities in a program built on faith, friendship, and fair play. Each weekend, gyms across the region will come alive with competition and fellowship as players, coaches, and families celebrate the spirit of the game.

The GOBL also welcomes a new community this season — Holy Trinity/St. Nicholas of Staten Island — joining the league with three teams (B1, G3, and B3) and a total of 30 new players. Their addition reflects the continued expansion of the league and the growing participation of parishes throughout the region. The league continues to grow because of the passion and support of its communities. Each game represents a moment of teamwork, joy, and connection—values that lie at the heart of what the GOBL stands for.

As part of its annual tradition of remembrance and fellowship, the GOBL will once again host the Nicholas Kokinakis Memorial Games on November 15, 2025. Five games will be played in Astoria between St. Demetrios and Archangel Michael—the two communities Nick called home. These games honor his vision, leadership, and enduring impact on the youth of the league. His dream of creating opportunities for children to participate in athletics continues to inspire the mission and growth of the GOBL today.

The 2025–2026 season schedule includes the following divisional breakdown:

Girls 1 (G1): 32 games

Boys 1 (B1): 52 games

Girls 2 (G2): 80 games

Boys 2 (B2): 88 games

Boys 3 (B3): 147 games

Junior Girls (JG): 91 games

Junior Boys (JB): 144 games
